I can see two possible alternative methods you might consider: 1. Unfortunately, the setting is also greyed out for merged cells. In your case, each label is within a cell of the larger table that makes up the full sheet, so this limitation will kick in. However, this setting will be greyed out (and therefore unavailable) in nested tables. That was my first thought when your question mentioned intermittent resized images. Normally, the “Automatically resize to fit contents“ checkbox in the Table Properties > Table Options dialog can be turned on to ensure that images are resized to fit within a cell (instead of changing the cell dimensions to fit the image). The small QR code is brought in by an INCLUDEPICTURE field code in the vertically-merged left column, and the red warning text is set in the vertically-merged right column. Your document is set up to print labels, with each label being set as a 3 column by 4 row table. If you have an older version, I'd suggest opening it and checking these settings to see if any have been inadvertently changed at some point. A common source of layout issues can arise from changes made to document compatibility settings (File > Options > Advanced > Compatibility) where a long list of obscure layout settings can be toggled on or off. If that is the case, either roll back to an earlier version that worked or post to the Office part of the Microsoft forums to try to get Microsoft's attention.Ī complex document can be hard to diagnose when issues are intermittent or appear to start after a change that may not appear to be related. (Specifically, a document using OpenType TrueType fonts like Garamond is laid out properly on both Print View and when printed, but not if OpenType CFF-type fonts like Adobe Garamond Pro are being used.) I am currently using an HP Laptop running WIndows 10 and Office 365.Īny help would be appreciated! I've tried everything I can think of and cannot figure out what could be causing this strange formatting issue! HEB-OMNICELL-AWS-Background-Labels.docx (Original Word File - Print Previews correctly but does not print correctly) test2.pdf (Printed PDF File - cuts off images) HEB-OMNICELL-AWS-Background-Labels.pdf (Save as PDF File - images appear correctly)Īre you using an Office 365 (subscription) version of Word? If so, the problem may be related to modifications being made to address an obscure problem with how Word’s pagination produces different results between the print view and the printed document - but only when certain types of fonts are used. While saving to PDF is a solution, I would like to find a solution that allows me to continue using MS Word to eliminate that additional step. I cannot seem to determine a solution to saving and printing directly from Word to make the images stop cutting off. I tried playing with multiple settings under Options > Advanced and nothing seems to resolve the issue. I do use it from multiple computers, so I'm not sure if it is a setting issue or what might be causing the problem but it can't be an jpeg file image issue as these exact image files worked just a few weeks ago.Ĭompressing the images does not work. I have been using this specific mailmerge for months and it has been working correctly until a week or two ago. All images print correctly when saved as PDF. The PDF attached was "printed," not saved. On the attached files, you can see that the first two print fine while most of the others cut off. This is clearly somehow related, but I am not sure how. Fun note - not all the images cut off, and the ones that enlarge without cropping are the same ones that can print correctly. When I "reset" the picture, they enlarge and cut off at the same place they are cropping during printing. The images are embedded in a mailmerge label format, so they are in table format. There are approximately 300 different images that I am pulling, so resetting each image isn't a viable solution. I can use the "Save to PDF" to resolve the issue, but I cannot print to PDF or print to any printer. The print preview shows correctly, but the printed images the same size, but zoomed in and cut off when actually printed. I have a very similar situation - I have jpeg images I have merged via mailmerge into labels that are cutting off when printing to both PDF and printers. I had this question after viewing Microsoft Word cuts off jpeg images when printing.
